7/19 Flow Battery Tour

Sorry, this event is sold out! Join us next time.

Join us for our second battery storage tour!

About a year ago we went to the Sterling Battery Storage site to learn about a lithium-ion battery. Although lithium-ion batteries are the most common, there are many other types of batteries.

National Grid with the help of the Department of Energy Resources is pairing it's 1 MW solar field with a 500kW, 3MW-hr flow battery from Vionx Energy. Vanadium redox flow batteries have the advantage of not degrading over time with each discharge cycle. This means the battery can theoretically last longer and be used more than lithium ion batteries which do degrade with each discharge cycle.

Come learn about the new technologies like flow batteries that are making it more and more possible to meet our 100% renewable energy goals!
