2/26 MCAN Legislative Conversations

Join the sponsors of important climate legislation and MCAN's top legislative priorities for our first in a series of webinar legislative conversations on Tuesday, February 26th at 7:00 PM. This webinar will feature the sponsors of bills focused on net zero buildings and homes for low income families and increasing the building stretch code to be net zero.

Speakers

Rep Tami Gouveia of Acton will discuss her bill to increase the building stretch code. This bill would direct the overseeing agency to increase the stretch code for new buildings to be net zero to meet the demand from towns and cities asking for this increase.

Rep Natalie Higgins of Leominster has sponsored a bill to Increase Net Zero Homes in Gateway Communities to study gaps and existing programs to help low income families live a net zero life in regard to efficiency, electric supply, solid waste, and transportation. This would be a groundbreaking bill that ensures we are not leaving low income communities behind when it comes to meeting our climate goals.

Rep Lori Ehrlich of Marblehead is the lead house sponsor of the bill to advance modern transportation. Transportation is the largest source of climate pollution in the region and this bill would cap pollution and invest in clean sustainable transportation networks across the commonwealth.
