Please join MCAN on September 25 from 7-9pm at Maynard High School for a Net-Zero Roundtable. MCAN will be co-sponsoring this event with Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships, Metropolitan Area Planning Council, Mothers Out Front, Sierra Club, 350Mass, and Environment Massachusetts. This event will allow people to learn about net-zero building and ask questions about why net-zero building is important and how to implement net-zero policy in their town or municipality.
Event Schedule:
In the first hour our expert speakers will be presenting about tools and strategies for advocating and implementing Net-Zero plans on the grassroots, town, and municipal levels. A few of the speakers will be:
-Henrietta Davis, who serves on the MCAN Board and is a former mayor of Cambridge, MA. She will be moderating and speaking about the work done by residents and the city to pass and implement their net-zero plan.
-Joan Fitzgerald, Author and Professor of Public Policy and Urban Affairs at Northeastern University will be framing the push for net-zero in a community and global context and sharing exciting best practices from around the world
-Cammy Peterson, Director of Clean Energy at the Metropolitan Area Planning Council will be highlighting tools that MAPC has developed to help municipalities reach net-zero.
-John Balfe, Buildings and Communities Senior Associate at Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships will walk through the tools NEEP has developed to help towns make their buildings more energy efficient.
In the second hour, attendees will break out into smaller groups to discuss how to achieve specific net-zero goals for their town or community. This will be an opportunity to receive team coaching from our speakers and our co-sponsoring groups to help you meet your local goals.
